The Starry Plough Pub
The Starry Plough Pub
Berkeley, CA
Venue Bio
The Starry Plough Pub is a family-run neighborhood pub and live music venue that has served Berkeley’s community for nearly fifty years. With a capacity of 120 people, the Plough offers beer, wine, American pub fare, and a steady calendar of live music and cultural events in an atmosphere that is distinctly Berkeley - quirky, welcoming, and community-driven. The pub was founded in 1973 by a group of Irish political activists who wanted to create a gathering place where people could share traditional music, culture, and political conversation. Today, the Starry Plough remains a welcoming stage for local musicians and artists, hosting a wide range of events, from traditional Irish sessions and Balkan music to weekly Funk Nights and other community-driven performances, many of which are free and open to the public.
